There were plenty of verbal pokes and jabs flying during the annual Plymouth Area Chamber of Commerce legislative breakfast Friday morning, Nov. 13, but humor wasn’t on the menu the same way it is for the annual St. Patrick’s Day political roasting in South Boston.

Between the jokes, those representing various aspects of local, county, state and federal government shared some valuable, important information with those hungry for more than the warm buffet breakfast.

KINGSTON – The opiate drug crisis, an infrastructure in desperate need of repair, the looming closure of Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station and the outrageous cost of higher education were just a few of the issues local legislators tackled during the Plymouth Area Chamber of Commerce’s 2015 Legislative Breakfast.

Area business professionals, town officials and employees took their seats at 7:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 13, at Indian Pond Country Club in Kingston to learn the state of the state’s business climate and the factors that are impacting it…

Rep. Mathew Muratore, R-Plymouth, noted that the state recognizes that the economic impact of Plymouth’s 400th anniversary celebration in 2020 isn’t just about Plymouth; he said he’s working with fellow lawmakers on statewide initiatives for 2020.

Plymouth Area Legislative Delegation: State funding secured for local initiatives

BOSTON – The Plymouth area legislative delegation, including Senator Vinny deMacedo, R-Plymouth, Rep. Tom Calter, D-Kingston, and Rep. Matt Muratore, R-Plymouth, was successful in securing funding for multiple local initiatives in Massachusetts’ FY16 state budget, signed last week by Gov. Charlie Baker. These initiatives include Drug Story Theater of the South Shore, Plymouth’s 400th anniversary, water quality efforts in Plymouth County, mosquito control, and veterans’ services in Plymouth, including an outreach center.

Rep. Muratore Named to Managed Care Organization Advisory Group

House Minority Leader Bradley H. Jones, Jr. (R-North Reading) has appointed Representative Mathew J. Muratore (R-Plymouth) to serve on a special House advisory group on Managed Care Organizations (MCOs).

The advisory group was created by House Speaker Robert A. DeLeo to review the delivery of Medicaid health benefits by MCOs and to develop potential savings to address the many financial challenges these organizations face. The advisory group will take into consideration all cost-drivers impacting the industry, including the costs associated with rare disease treatment medications, and will also examine potential alternative payment methods.

Rep. Muratore Named to Ocean Advisory Commission

House Minority Leader Bradley H. Jones, Jr. (R-North Reading) is pleased to announce his appointment of Representative Mathew J. Muratore (R-Plymouth) to the Ocean Advisory Commission.

Established in 2008 as part of the Oceans Act, the Commission works closely with the Secretary of Energy and Environmental Affairs to develop and maintain the state’s ocean management plan. Its 18 members include legislators, municipal officials and representatives of state agencies, along with environmental and fishing industry stakeholders.
